Video Calibration

You’ve just spent hard earned money on a new home theater video display/TV. So, why don’t your movies or sports shows look as good as the cinema version or real life sports events? The answer is that TV manufacturers and retailers adjust their displays to be as bright and eye-catching as possible on the showroom floor. However, this results in poor picture quality and the only way to get your system to look its best and last the longest is to get it professionally calibrated to industry standards.

Calibration is one of the most effective and least expensive upgrades you can make to your video system. You will see an immediate, significant improvement in the picture quality. Your display will now do full justice to a high quality video signal. It will give you a picture quality approaching or in many cases exceeding that of the local movie theater!

After we professionally calibrate your video display, it will:

  • Produce and maintain a full range of accurate colors
  • Display a sharper focused, full resolution image
  • Be properly matched to your room and viewing environment
  • Be easier on your eyes
  • Have a cinema theater “film look”

Audio Calibration

Just like a video display needs to be calibrated to perform at its best, the audio system also benefits significantly through calibration. The truth is, many people are not enjoying their sound system’s true capabilities despite the fact that they have high quality gear. Plainly said, the systems do not sound good and in many cases are even difficult to listen to.

An acoustical truism is that the room in which you install your system is as much of a “component” as your speakers or amplifier. In fact, if you put the same system in two different rooms, that system will sound entirely different in each room. Carpets, bare floors, windows, drapes, speaker location, and the size and shape of the room all impact what you actually hear. This is why audio calibration is so important. The difference in sound quality after a professional audio calibration is typically huge! We are trained in the science and art of acoustics and can help to capture the full potential of your home theater audio system.

After we professionally calibrate your sound system, it will provide:

  • Life-like clarity and focus
  • Intelligible dialogue from movies
  • Great sound at both low and high volumes
  • Subtle details that were previously obscured
  • Bass that is rich and smooth, not boomy

Acoustic Treatment

Acoustic room treatment is a commonly overlooked element of otherwise well-designed homes and home theater spaces. The right acoustic treatment will help control and mitigate unwanted echoes and reverberations. Sound bounces around a room much like a ping pong ball bouncing back from hard surfaces, such as a wall, and slowing down when it hits a soft surface like carpet. If untreated, the result of this is muddied sound with movie dialog difficult to understand and music that just doesn’t sound natural.

Acoustic treatment within a room is designed to absorb or diffuse the sound. Absorption is used to minimize unwanted reflections from speakers off walls and ceilings. Diffussion elements maintain sound energy while at the same time eliminate unwanted direct reflection of sound waves in the surround field. In general, a fine balance of absorbers and diffusers are required to produce high quality sound in your theater. At Beeswing, we will engineer an acoustic design with the best mix of highly-aesthetic acoustic treatment materials that match your home’s décor and provide the best solution for the application.
